India Claims to Have Successfully Obtained Electronic and Digital Data “Traces” of Pakistan’s Major Weapons Systems
Defence affairs analysis
In what is being described as a major breakthrough, India's air defense and radar systems have reportedly succeeded in obtaining various data and information regarding various military equipment operated by the Pakistani Air Force during the conflict between the two countries early last month.
The information and data successfully obtained by the Indian air defence system included electronic and digital signatures of modern defence systems including the Pakistan Air Force's advanced fighter aircraft including the J-10C and JF-17.
In addition to the two types of fighter jets involved, electronic traces and data of the PL-15E Beyond Visual Range (BVR) air-to-air missile and the HQ-9 air defense system used by the Pakistan Air Force were also successfully obtained by the Indian military.
"The success of detecting electronic and digital traces is expected to further enhance India's defense capabilities and enable New Delhi to share important and technical information with its other strategic partners," according to an Indian defense analyst as quoted by the country's defense media.
The data and technical information was successfully intercepted during Operation Sindoor launched by India.
According to reports, in order to counter attacks by Indian Air Force aircraft on its military infrastructure using assets supplied by China, Pakistan has indirectly revealed the system's data and electronic footprint to the Indian military.
"Apart from the electronic and digital data being used to improve the country's defense, the comprehensive data can also be used to further enhance the country's military system's ability to be sold to its customers in foreign markets."
