Iran Claims Azerbaijan Allowed Israel to Use Its Airspace to Attack Tehran, Its Territory

Sources in Iran claim that Israeli fighter jets use Azerbaijani airspace, especially in the Caspian Sea, to carry out precision airstrikes on Tehran and several other areas.
Tensions are rising between Iran and Azerbaijan following allegations by Tehran that its neighbor allowed Israeli fighter jets to use its airspace to bomb Iran in the recent 12-day war.
The Iranian government has officially asked Azerbaijan to investigate allegations that Israel used its airspace to attack Iran at a time when diplomatic relations between the two countries are at an extremely tense state.
The airstrikes deep inside Iranian territory are believed to be "facilitated" through close diplomatic and military ties between Azerbaijan and Israel.
According to reports from the Iranian side, the airstrikes on Tehran and Karaj were allegedly launched via airspace over the Caspian Sea — an airspace corridor that only Azerbaijan can allow to be used since Iran considers Armenia, Russia and Turkmenistan to be regional allies.
The attack on Tabriz is said to have used Iraqi airspace, while the attacks on Kermanshah and Isfahan were also launched from Iraq after the Iranian air defense system in the area was destroyed.
While Azerbaijan has vehemently denied allowing its airspace to be used to launch attacks against Iran or any other country, Iranian officials have openly referred to media reports that allegedly show such cooperation.
They did not, however, make direct accusations, but instead emphasized the need for clarification and transparency on this issue.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly raised the issue in a conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, to signal Tehran's concern over the alleged airspace violation.
Iran's ambassador to Armenia also criticized Baku's leadership, sparking a wave of harsh backlash in Azerbaijani media, including personal attacks on Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In an article published by the Azerbaijani news portal Caliber, the author claims that “Iran’s main enemy is not a specific individual or diplomatic representative, but rather the Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei himself.”
The article also accused Khamenei of being the mastermind behind the long-standing "hostile and subversive" policy towards Azerbaijan and claimed that every provocation and leak of sensitive information could be traced back to the Iranian leader's office.
"This is not an isolated incident," the article said.
“This is an ideology — and its architect is Ali Khamenei.”
A few days ago, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry denied allegations made by Iran's Ambassador to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani, that Baku allowed its territory to be used by Israel to launch attacks against Iran.
